Ice Wolves HOUSE League

QUICK LINKS
We operate the only all-girls' House Leagues in Kingston. The Ice Wolves anticipate, once again, welcoming teams from the following neighbouring girls organizations to play in our novice, atom and peewee house league divisions - Gananoque, Frontenac, Napanee and the Stone Mills Girls'

The addition of these teams brings an added dimension to our house league by increasing the number of teams in each division and allowing greater variety.

UNIFORM INFORMATION:

  • sponsor bar is to be placed at the top of the jersey back
  • name bar goes at the bottom of the jersey back
Required Equipment:
Some girls like to wear long underwear, tights, or sweatpants and a long-sleeved shirt (T-shirt or light turtleneck) under their gear; others prefer shorts and a T-shirt or underpants and a T-shirt.
  • Groin protection - either a girl's pelvic protector (Jill strap") or a boy's cup is fine.
  • Shin pads. If the shin pads don't come with straps you need some straps or round elastic to hold them on.
  • Hockey stockings (socks).
  • Garter belt - not required but most kids have them.
  • Hockey pants (with belt or suspenders).
  • Hockey skates (they need not be new but must fit well).
  • Shoulder pads
  • Elbow pads
  • Hockey sweater (we will provide a jersey)
  • Throat protector (BNQ approved).
  • Hockey helmet and face protection - must be CSA approved, fit properly and have chin straps.
  • Hockey gloves
  • Hockey sweater - If you are doing the September skills clinic and you don't have a sweater, ask about borrowing one. Players on house league and competitive teams should not wear team jerseys for practices. FUNdamentals players wear their team jerseys for all ice sessions. We will provide team sweaters to be worn in games. Sponsor bars (mandatory) should be sewn across the shoulders above the number, and name bars (optional for house league and FUNdamentals) are sewn below the number.
  • Hockey stick - for young beginners, look for a straight stick. Cut the stick off at about the level of the players nose or chin (in sock feet) and file the end smooth. Tape the blade and make a knob of tape at the top (so the player can pick it up with gloves on). Put the player's name or other identifying mark on the stick so the player can recognize it.
Optional Equipment:
  • Hockey equipment bag - not needed if she will be dressing at home
  • Skate guards - if she wears her skates to the arena
  • A rag or towel to wipe the skate blade.
  • A water bottle
  • Internal mouthguard - these are optional in girls' hockey
  • Bandanna, headband, or barrettes to keep her hair out of her eyes
Goaltenders: Goaltending equipment will be provided as needed.
Coaches: All team staff members on the ice must wear helmets with the chin straps fastened.
