PEEWEE BB WIN NAPANEE CRUNCH STATEFARM HOCKEY TOURNAMENT, OCT 24.

The Peewee BB Ice wolves went undefeated in 4 round robin games and then went onto to beat "The Crunch" in the final 3-1. After a "shaky" start friday morning against the home team from Napanee the Ice Wolves were able to put together 9 more periods of play that secured them a spot in the final game on Sunday afternoon. Kingston came out working hard once again in the final and had Napanee asking themselves if this was the same team they had played the past friday morning. Great work by all players with goals from Kaitlyn Sherboneau (assisted by Kiera Myers and Charlee Robinson), Taylor Simmons (unassisted) and an outstanding "hard work end to end" effort from Caliegh Patterson (unassisted) gave the Ice Wolves there first tournament win of the season.

GKGHA Midget AA win B Championship at Stoney Creek Tournament.

Having never played a game together, the Kingston Midget AA team struggled in their first game of the Stoney Creek Midget Showcase tournament in Hamilton on September 11, but that set back didn’t set them back for long – they won the next six games to win the B Championship.

The eight returning girls (Laurel Charlesworth, Molly Doherty, Eliza Earle, Katie Gordanier, Cailey Mayer, Heather McLay, Sadie Whaley and Sarai Whitty) were joined by five minors from last year’s Bantam AA team (Karley Heyman, Emily Kekewich, Danielle Leonard, SaraJane Pratt and Megan Simpson), two girls who played for Belleville (Jessa McAuliffe and Katie Milligan), and one major who played for the Midget BB team last year (Jayme Ward).

The Midget Showcase tournament has a total of 40 Midget AA teams from all over Ontario and the US. Following the first loss to Cambridge, Coach Brad Heyman made a few line changes and the girls came back to win the next two games of the round robin. That set up a three-way tie in their original pool of ten teams, and they just missed the A-round. Sixteen teams were in the B pool, and the girls had to win the next three games to claim the Championship. The quarter final against Leaside (with former Ice Wolf Leila Chan-Curry) went to a shoot-out and the final itself was won in overtime.

With goals or assists from almost everyone, the Kingston Midget AA team sent a message to the whole Province that they could pull together (and skate!) extremely quickly and will be a force to be reckoned with this year!
